Taiping National Forest Park is located in the northern slope of the main ridge of Qinling Mountains and also in the upper reach of the Taipingyu River, 33 kilometers away from Huxian County, 44 kilometers away from Xi’an , 60 kilometers away from Xianyang, and covers a total area of 6085 hectares. The park consists of five scenic areas, namely, Stone Gate, Yellow Goat Dam, Moon Palace Pound, Qinling Ridge, Birch Woods, with nearly one hundred scenic spots inside. It is the central scenic area of the Zhongnanshan World Geological Park and the National Central Park.

Taiping Valley got its name from the royal Taiping Palace of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, with the peculiar scenic spots inside, it was a natural paradise for the emperors to watch flowers and stay away from the hot weather. The park is rich in botanical resources which are multifarious---deciduous pine tree forest in different styles, breathtakingly bold ancient fir forest, vibrant azalea stretching for over five kilometers, thousands mu of red birch braving the wind and snow and tens of thousands mu flower waves of bauhinia. The scenery of the park changes with the season and is picturesque in every season. Just the first and second grade national protected animals can amount to over 30 kinds in the park, animals such as golden hair yakins, antelopes, blue goats, musk deer, hedgehogs, long-tail pheasants and thrush often haunt the woods, streams and roads , constituting a unique sight in the park. The park is particularly special for its landscape,12 waterfalls of different magnitude have been discovered so far. 8 falls and 18 pounds of them have become very famous these days. The Rainbow Waterfall, the largest among them, falls down a total distance of 160 meters. The waterfalls mainly distribute within an area about 2.5 kilometers around, forming a group of waterfalls which are the one and only natural ecological sight in the northern part of China. All the waterfalls fall into the ponds, causing water mist all around, forming exceptionally beautiful rainbow, making you doubt if you are in a fairyland. The park is now called by tourists “the world of flowers and waterfalls” for its possession of bauhinia on such a large scale and the beautiful water sights.

The park possesses sound facilities and can offer first class service. The newly built 5800 –meter-long raised-up footpaths for tourists, 1500-meter-long cableway and 300-meter-long slipping ropeway make the mountain take a totally new look. The Bauhinia Hotel and the Bauhinia Restaurant in the park, able to offer accommodation, food and entertainment altogether in one place, can host a conference for over 200 people with 300 beds of middle and higher class.
The annul average temperature in the park is 7-10 degrees centigrade, while the highest temperature is 29 degrees centigrade. It is an ideal place for scientific exploration, cliff-climbing, sightseeing, holidays, recuperation and conference.
