Since the Sui and Tang dynasties, there has always been a widespread belief on the Avalokitesvara among people that She cares about the universal lives and can help people get out of trials and tribulations. Later, three religious festivals mainly for worshipping Avalokitesvara gradually came to existence, and they are respectively the birthday of Avalokitesvara ( February 19th), the day when Avalokitesvara became a Bodhisattva (June 19th), and the day when Avalokitesvara converted to Buddhism (September 19th). Celebration ceremonies are held on the three festivals every year in the Changsha Kaifu Temple.
